Pav, also known as pau or bread rolls, is believed to have been introduced to India by Portuguese colonizers in the 16th century. However, the Indian version of pav has its own unique characteristics and is often softer and fluffier than its European counterpart. In addition to being used for dishes like pav bhaji, pav is also commonly served with other Indian street foods like vada pav, isal pav, and pav sandwich.
